Hollywood, Ca - Saturday, June 15th, stylish starlette Rachel Bilson, multi-talented DJ Jake Hoffman, and personal chef to the stars Chef Yossi hosted a fun, food-filled evening benefitting the Los Angeles Mission at Hollywood’s hottest southern food eatery, Memphis Restaurant. The Los Angeles Mission is a nonprofit organization that serves the homeless living on the streets of downtown Los Angeles’ Hope Central (known as Skid Row). The star-studded event also introduced Chef Yossi, a deluxe personal care line for gourmet chefs and “foodies” alike, to the Los Angeles.
Sizzling celebrities lounged on the plush, velvet chairs and couches and mingled while they sampled the sizzling hors d’oeurves like lamb, sushi, mini tacos, and crab cakes. Carbs or no carbs, everyone was after the hors d’oeurves. In fact, the waitresses found their trays empty within five steps of entering the restaurant! DJ Jake Hoffman entertained the audience as he spun an eclectic mix of 80s, popular clubbing beats, and some good ol’ oldies. Gourmet food, adult beverages, great music, and charitable donations resulted in serenely satiated guests and a quite successful evening.

Celebrities Revel for a Cause: Black Tie For Breast Cancer Gala Ball, Sydney
Tonight in Sydney, Australia, the Black Tie for Breast Cancer (BT4BC) gala event for the Prince of Wales Hospital Foundation took place at the beautiful Westin Hotel.
A community aware group of nice folks including both A-listers, everyday mums and dads and a range of people from all walks of life, gathered together to help raise much needed funds for the development of a new Cancer Centre at the Prince of Wales Hospital.
The celebrity contingent included Jodi Gordon, Braith Anasta, the newly engaged Rachel Gilbert and Tom Williams, two time Logie nominee Anna McGahan, Melissa Hoyer, Peter Morrissey, Laura Csortan and a swag of others whipped up a storm in an effort to help raise money for a new cancer centre at the Prince of Wales Hospital Randwick campus.
The guest list included: Jodi Gordon, Rachel Gilbert, Tom Williams, Anna McGahn, Ant & Becks, Peter Morrissey, Laura Csortan, Chris Joannou, Sarah Cumming, Geoff Field, Melissa Hoyer, Bianca Dye, Braith Anasta and Roy Billing.
Finally, all power to cancer survivors, their family and friends, and those doing what they can to help fight cancer.
Celebrity for good - always good to hear, and public big congrats to all of those who helped put tonight together.

The Prince of Wales Hospital Foundation promotes the work of the Prince of Wales Hospital (POWH) to build healthier communities. Partnering with our community, we raise vital funds to ensure the continued development of research, education and special projects, which will provide integrated health care for the patients.
Over the next few years we will be embarking on a campaign to build a new, gold standard Cancer and Blood Disorders Centre on site and the BT4BC event is the signature event for this centre. The centre will work closely with the University of NSW’s Lowy Cancer Research Centre, to provide the latest researched treatments. When completed, it will be the only fully comprehensive, public cancer treatment centre in Sydney, which also treats many of our country patients.

Ben's Chili Bowl, at 1213 U Street, has been an integral part of the U Street Corridor since it was founded in 1958 by husband and wife team Ben and Virginia Ali. The restaurant is located in the former Minnehaha, Washington's first silent movie house, which was established in 1911. Ben's was frequented by both police and protesters during the 1968 Washington, D.C. riots, and is regularly visited by celebrities, most famously Bill Cosby. Then-President-elect, Barack Obama, stopped into Ben's for lunch when he first arrived in his new hometown. Scenes from the films The Pelican Brief and State of Play were filmed in the restaurant.
Ben's signature dish is the Original Chili Half-Smoke, a favorite of Cosby's since the early 1960's. The 1/4 pound half-pork, half-beef half-smoke, a sausage similar to the hot dog, but larger, spicier and with more coarsely ground meat, is grilled, served on a warm steamed bun and topped with mustard, onions and a spicy homemade beef chili con carne. The etymology of "half-smoke" is debated, as the sausage is not always smoked. It may instead refer to the practice of cutting the sausage in half when grilling, or that many half-smokes are 50/50 beef and pork. The "original" half smoke is considered to be the sausage distributed by D.C.'s Briggs and Co. meatpackers, originating in around 1950, though Raymond Briggs started selling his half-smokes circa 1930
The greater U Street Historic District, roughly bounded by New Hampshire Avenue, Florida Avenue, 6th Street, R Street and 16th Street, in the Shaw neighborhood of northwestern Washington DC, is largely a Victorian-era neighborhood, made up of row houses constructed in response to the city's high demand for housing following the Civil War and the growth of the federal government in the late 19th century. The area was predominately white and middle class until 1900, but as Washington became progressively more segregated, the U Street Corridor emerged as the city's most important concentration of businesses and entertainment facilities owned and operated by blacks, becoming known as "Black Broadway" in its cultural heyday. The late 1960's saw the neighborhood begin a fall into decline, marred by violence and drug tacking, that would last well into the revitalization and gentrification of the 1990's.
