Maximilian Emerald Ring

The "Maximilian Emerald Ring" gets its name from one of its owners, an ill-fated archduke of Austria Ferdinand Maximilian Joseph whose misguided attempt to rule Mexico ended in his assassination in 1864.
The emerald was set on a ring for Emperor Maximilian Joseph, but after his death changed hands and eventually came into the possession of Marjorie M. Post. It was donated to the National Museum of Natural History of the Smithsonian Institution by her in 1964. The emerald's present setting by Cartier is enhanced by six baguette diamonds.

York's son, Orlando Wells (the Duke of Kent in The King's Speech and Lord Montagu in A Very British Sex Scandal), announced her death earlier today. The London-born York had turned 72 on Jan. 9.
Though hardly a household name today — people's ignorance is truly their loss — Susannah York was featured in several top releases of the '60s and '70s, among them Ronald Neame's military drama Tunes of Glory (1960), Tony Richardson's Oscar winner Tom Jones (1963), Fred Zinnemann's Oscar winner A Man for All Seasons (1966), and Sydney Pollack's Great Depression classic They Shoot Horses, Don't They? (1969), for which York deservedly received an Oscar nomination and a British Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress.

We were selling credits in the lobby of the Four Season's hotel during the Toronto Int'l Film Festival. We just sold a credit to an eight year old boy named Conrad. This guy asked us what we were doing, and we told him it was high concept, and that he probably didn't want to know. He asked us again, so we gave him the pitch, and then he gave us 0 cash.We snapped this pic while he was taking a call. We had no idea who he was until he signed our clip board, and we read his name: Brett Ratner, director of Rush Hour. Crazy. Then we saw Selma Blair getting into an elevator, so we decided to go upstairs.

Stevie Wonder was the headline act tonight, as he performed to an intimate audience of 2000 patrons, paying between 5 to 5 to see the music legend close up.
Around the corner on the red carpet, news media waited for the celebs. The name listed included Jennifer Hawkins and Jake Wall, Kate Richie and Stuart Webb, Wendell Sailor and wife Tara, Ricki-Lee Coulter and boyfriend Richard Harrison. Does anyone know how much the celebs are getting paid to turn up to Star invites, or is it just a win - win, all done to generate positive media buzz?
Finally, after what seemed like hours for Russell Crowe and beautiful wife, Danielle Spencer did the red, fresh off dinner at the revamped casino aka integrated entertainment complex.
